Science on Stage Portugal
Science on Stage Portugal enables Portuguese STEM teachers to broaden their horizons and be inspired by the ideas and experiences of the European colleagues. The initiative offers different teacher trainings with European projects and organises national events to give Portuguese teachers the chance to exchange amongst each other and to apply for the European Science on Stage festivals.
Since 2013 Science on Stage Portugal is based at NUCLIO – Astronomy Education and by Planetarium Calouste Gulbenkian / Science Alive Centre. The initiative was established for the first time in 2005 by Science Alive – The National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture.
The selected teachers will now have the unique opportunity to participate in the European Science on Stage festival 2017 in Debrecen, Hungary from June 29 to July 2 and submit their project and materials to 450 European teachers.

Science on Stage Portugal started a programme of regional events planned for five different cities from north to south of the country.
The main goal of the regional events is to raise the Portuguese teachers awareness of innovative STEM teaching ideas and to disseminate the spirit of Science on Stage – a European platform from teachers for teachers to access educational resources, training workshops, exchange programmes, festivals and joint projects with teachers all across Europe.
Each event includes a teacher training during the day and by night a Café Science is open to general public, where everyone has the opportunity to chat about a 'hot' subject with a scientist, while sipping a hot cup of coffee or tea with cookies.
Science on Stage Portugal regional events are held along with 'NUCLIO Pilot Days'. In teacher trainings the participants learn how to integrate the projects 'Inspiring Science Education' (ISE), 'Digital Schools of Europe' (DSoE) and 'Go-Lab' into their own classrooms.
