Brer Rabbit, Rare Rabbit: Directional Selection, Allele Frequencies and Evolution (iStage 1)

english

This simulation activity is aimed at students age 16 – 18 studying Advanced Level Biology. It is designed to help them understand core principles related to the study of allele frequency in a gene pool such as the inheritance of dominant and recessive alleles in monohybrid Mendelian crosses, the Hardy-Weinberg Principle or the evolution as a change in allele frequencies in a population over a period of time.

Please find the additional material mentioned in the text below. The project is taken from the brochure ‘iStage: ICT in Science Teaching’ from the unit ‘Biology and Health’. You can order the complete brochure in print (mail to info@science-on-stage.de) or download it here. The material has been developed by 22 teachers from 15 countries. The project has been supported by SAP.
