#SonS2017 follow-up: Cyprian-Greek teacher exchange

At the last European Science on Stage festival 2017 Christina Aristodimou, teacher delegate of Science on Stage Cyprus, met Georgios Villias, teacher of Science on Stage Greece. After the event both decided to do a teacher exchange and develop together EER (Educational Escape Room) activities on STEM courses for students. This December Georgios went to see Christina at her school in Cyprus to implement their project ideas with her students - the first EER activity in biology.

It focused on vertebrates' circulatory system with a special focus on human heart anatomy, circulatory routes, blood vessels' structure and blood disorders. Regarding the physics track, the intention was to create a fascinating space adventure during which students would have to use their knowledge in linear motion (analysing graphic representations and making calculations on translocation, velocity, or acceleration), and their skills in accurate mass and length measurements using precision scales and digital vernier calipers. This EER activity focusing on physics was planned to be implemented during another teacher exchange in January 2019.

Christina and Georgios managed to implement the biology EER activity on two different groups of students. Christina had also the chance to familiarise herself with the facilitator's role in EER activities. Students had the time afterwards to participate in a debriefing phase and provide their feedback regarding the activities.
