Science on Stage Europe The European platform for science teachers

Greek delegation for #SonS2019 received by the Greek President

The 11th European Science on Stage festival took place from 31 October to 3 November 2019 in Cascais, Portugal, at the Estoril Congress Center. At the largest European educational fair for STEM teachers around 450 primary and secondary school teachers from over 30 countries came together to exchange best practice teaching concepts. Teachers from Greece also participated successfully in the event. They made contacts, presented their great teaching ideas and two of them, Michalis Orfanakis and Mikis Mylonakis, even won the European STEM teacher award.

And now, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, met on December 7, 2019 with the members of the Greek delegation at the Presidential Palace. The President congratulated the teachers for their successful presence at the festival.

In his greeting, the President has said, among other things, the following: "I congratulate you on the great distinctions that were bestowed upon you at the 11th European Science on Stage Festival under the motto 'Skills for the Future'. I also want to tell you that what matters even more - and I congratulate you even more on this - is that you take part in this Initiative which is of immense importance, going far beyond the borders of our country, and is a pan-European initiative, as you know better than I. I congratulate you that through this Initiative, you, the Primary and Secondary Education Teachers, are engaged in the teaching related to the education of students in the field of Natural Sciences through the Laboratory. In this way you attract young people to the field of Natural Sciences, widening their horizons and helping them to understand the value of Science and, at the same time, teach them the great importance of Technology."

What an honor!
