Science on Stage Europe The European platform for science teachers

The Latvian delegation has been selected

On 5 September 2020 the Latvian Science on Stage festival took place in Jelgava. The event was organised within the framework of the technology and innovation festival "Mehatrons" that is organised every autumn.

During the festival 18 teachers presented their teaching ideas to the jury hoping to become a part of the Latvian delegation for the European Science on Stage festival, that will take place in March 2022.

The participants, coming from various parts of Latvia, presented their ideas on how to teach science through the art of performance, mathematics with the help of music, how to make a rainbow using natural colours, how to get to know plants through games and how to teach coding in an engaging, exciting way.

These are the member of the Latvian delegation for the European Science on Stage festival 2022:

  • Aleksandrs Smirnovs, Josifs Spirts – Jelgava Secondary School No 5 („How it works? Development of science and technology competencies”)
  • Kaspars Antonevičs, Ivars Bahmanis - Jelgavas Secondary school of Technology („A repeatable educational model based on Industry 4.0 competencies, entrepreneurship and family values")
  • Lilita Svirževska, Laura Timša- Riga Young Technicians centre („Getting to know plants using plant detectors and board games”)

This event was also supported  by the European Regional Development Fund project "Latvian Science in the European Research Area" implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia.
