European STEM League: A follow-up project from Spain

Last year Miguel Angel Queiruga Dios and Noelia Velasco Pérez from Burgos, Spain, took part in the European STEM League. They implemented experiments about 'Football in Science Teaching' with their classes and document the results in a creative way. Based on this they developed a publication giving an insight on their activities. The material was published in English and Spanish and focuses on 'Building physics through football'.

Lately Miguel and Noelia presented their project and publication at the Spanish Science on Stage festival 'Ciencia en Acción' (see blog report, 12 October 2018). They also presented their materials at the Physics Teaching Day in Burgos which was organised by the Spanish Royal Society of Physics.

Coding and Football in STEM Education: Presentation at Spanish Science on Stage festival

From 5-7 October 2018 the Spanish Science on Stage festival took place within the 19th edition of 'Ciencia an Acción' at the Cubic, Viladecans, Barcelona.

On site Imma Abad and Pere Compte gave a workshop on the new international Science on Stage teacher project 'Coding in STEM Education' that will be presented next March 2019 in Vienna, Austria. In this workshop one of the teaching units called the 'Coala' project by Mirek Hancl and Julia Winkler was tested by a Spanish team. Also 'The remote captain' got explained. A large audience has been interested in this experience.

Also Miguel Angel Queiruga Dios took part in the event. He presented the project of 'Building physics through football' based on 'iStage 3 - Football in Science Teaching'.

Poznań: Science on Stage Poland organised a teacher seminar

Review: On 25 November 2017 Science on Stage Poland organised a teacher seminar at the Faculty of Physics, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań summarising the European Science on Stage festival 2017 in Debrecen, Hungary. The Polish teacher delegation shared its festival experiences and new teaching concepts. Also 'iStage 3 - Football in Science Teaching' was presented by Maria Dobkowska. 53 STEM teachers from all over the country took part in the seminar. In addition, Science on Stage Poland conducted an on-line Internet transmission from this seminar. At the website the Polish Science on Stage team included film recordings of the seminar presentations and discussions.

Barcelona: Science on Stage at the Youth Mobile Festival YoMo

From 27 February to 2 March 2017 the Youth Mobile Festival YoMo took place in Barcelona under the motto 'Science+Tech meets Mobile'. Up to 20,000 10-16 year olds from across Catalonia and Spain joined the event. Pere Compte presented at the stand of Ciencia en Acción the materials of Science on Stage and invited STEM teachers to implement the teaching ideas of the brochure iStage 3 - Football in Science Teaching in their own classrooms within in the European STEM League.
