German-French teacher exchange on Racing SolarMobiles

From 27-29 March 2018 Kirsten Biedermann, teacher of Science on Stage Germany, went to visit Philippe Jeanjacquot from Science on Stage France at the Lycée Charlie Chaplin in Lyon for a teacher exchange. On site Kirsten presented the Racing SolarMobile which he and his students developed at the Widukind-Gymnasium Enger. Based on this Racing SolarMobile he and Philippe decided to develop a course for students in both countries with a special focus on increasing the students motivation in STEM, on integrating the use of smartphones or ipads and a budget-friendly planning. To get a better impression of the French way of teaching with ipads Kirsten attended STEM lessons in Lyon. He and Philippe decided to document the project development in their countries with videos and to plan a little competition with the Racing SolarMobiles built by their students. Of course the students will also have to give a little presentation about their projects. We are looking forward to the final report!

Festival project ‘vortex rings’: French teaching idea successfully adapted by German students

A French teachers' project of the last European Science on Stage festival continues its triumphant success in German classrooms: In 2015 Vincent Devaux and Sébastien Poirier from the team of Science on Stage France fascinated their colleagues with the project 'At the discovery of vortex rings' at the event in London. Now the teaching idea was adopted by a German class of the Gymnasium Höchstadt/Aisch: The students examined the phenomena of vortex rings and developed together with young engineers a modified modell on basis of the French idea. For that they got recently awarded at the 'students team competition for natural sciences and technics 2015/16 - Vision-Ing21' at the university in Erlangen.

French Science on Stage festival 2016

On 19 May the French Science on Stage festival 2016 took place at Le Creusot ALTO. It was a buzzing event: Around twenty-four creative teaching projects for primary and secondary schools were shown at an educational fair as well as some student projects from the IUT (University Institut of Technology at the University of Burgundy). Teachers from eight academies in France and 258 pupils from primary school presented their scientific projects. With Liliana Fernandes from Science On Stage Portugal aswell as Philippe Delsalte and Francis Moreau from Science On Stage Belgium also three STEM teachers from the European Science on Stage network took part in the French event.

'The French delegation is now ready for the European Science on Stage festival 2017 in Debrecen - and we are looking forward to meet our European colleagues' says Ouadi Beya, head of Science on Stage France.
