Science on Stage Latvia

Science on Stage Latvia was founded in 2016 and is hosted by Zemgale Region Human Resource and Competence Development Centre ( in Jelgava, that is strongly involved in promoting science education and organising activities  to raise students’ interest in science.

The main aims of Science on Stage Latvia are:

  • to promote teachers' professional development through cooperation at local and international level
  • to motivate and encourage teachers seek and introduce innovative and creative methods in teaching STEM subjects
  • to encourage teachers to share experience and good practice examples with teachers from other countries

Latvian Science on Stage festival 2018

The next national Science on Stage festival in Latvia will take place on 8 September 2018  Jelgava at the 'Metāla svētki 2018' event. At the event, the Latvian delegation of STEM teachers for the European Science on Stage festival 2019 in Cascais, Portugal will be chosen. Teachers from primary to secondary school are invited to apply with their ideas by 10 June 2018 by handing in a written application.

Latvian Science on Stage festival 2016

The national Science on Stage festival 2016 in Latvia took place on 10 September 2016 in Jelgava, Pasta Island. At the event, the selection of the Latvian delegation for the European Science on Stage festival 2017 in Debrecen, Hungary was chosen.
