#Digiday 2026 in Latvia: Exploring digital tools and well-being in the age of AI

On 9 March, nearly 120 educators gathered in Jelgava, Latvia, for the annual event #Digiday 2026. This year’s edition focused on finding a balance between digital well-being and the opportunities offered by technology in the age of artificial intelligence. Throughout the event, participants explored new digital tools while reflecting on how technology can be used in ways that support both learning and personal well-being.

The programme was structured in three parts. The day began with the “Cyber Branch”, where school IT mentors presented short, dynamic workshops showcasing practical digital tools that can be integrated into everyday teaching. Participants discovered resources such as Canva’s AI assistant for image creation, the interactive learning platform Baamboozle, the online 3D design platform Tinkercad, and the YouLinker digital platform.

The central session of the event featured the lecture “Digital Wellbeing: Why Smart Relaxation in Schools is Just as Important as Workload.” The speaker introduced the concept of a “relaxation culture” in schools and highlighted its importance for the well-being of both teachers and students. The talk emphasized the need to develop healthy habits that support creativity, movement, and inspiration, rather than relying on short-term digital stimuli such as social media.

The event concluded with seven thematic workshops, led by experienced specialists, which combined theoretical insights with practical examples of how digital tools can be meaningfully integrated into the educational process.
