Researchers’ Night 2026 in Jelgava

Researchers’ Night Takes Families on a Journey Through Time

On September 25, the Zemgale Region Competence Development Centre was transformed into a time machine, inviting families with preschool and primary school-aged children to embark on an exciting journey through different eras.

More than 900 visitors – children, parents and families – took part in the Scientists’ Night activities throughout the evening, exploring the fascinating world of science and technology together and travelling through time in an engaging and interactive way.

Visitors stepped into the role of paleontologists, searching for fossils and taking photos with dinosaurs. At the ancient inventions station, families explored simple mechanisms, built hot-air balloons and ancient musical instruments, and discovered the writing systems of ancient civilisations by finding out how their own names might have looked in hieroglyphs.

At the Science and Technology station, visitors conducted experiments and explored the interaction of different substances and forces. They also had the opportunity to experience virtual and augmented reality, as well as operate and programme robots.

The journey continued into the future, where visitors could let their imaginations run free and design their own futuristic cities in a 3D virtual environment.

The evening was enriched by an exciting Science Show, where seemingly impossible things became possible, sparking curiosity and inspiring visitors to discover more about the world around them.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Scientists’ Night for your interest, enthusiasm and participation!

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Jelgava’s educational institutions, “Science on Stage” national festival partricipants  and Roboskola for being part of this exciting journey through time.
