Science on Stage Europe ambassador Kulvinder at the ASE Annual Conference

The ASE (Association for Science Education) Annual Conference took place from 8–10 January 2026 at the University of Nottingham, bringing together hundreds of science educators, researchers, and technicians from across the UK and Europe.

The three-day event offered a rich programme of panels, lectures, workshops, and keynotes, catering to all age groups in education and providing plenty of opportunities for sharing ideas.

The Science on Stage Europe ambassador, Kulvinder Kaur Johal, and Science on Stage Europe board member, David Featonby, were both present. Kulvinder led a session with her colleague Dr. Rebecca Ellis titled “Changing our practice to include all pupils”, focusing on inclusion. The session proved very popular, reflecting the current importance of inclusive practices in education.

For Kulvinder, the conference is also a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, discover new initiatives, and connect with like-minded educators – including a chance encounter with some UK secondary teachers who had participated in the European Science on Stage festival in Turku, as well as with David, who presented Science on Stage at a dedicated stand.

Overall, the ASE Annual Conference was a fantastic start to the year. As Kulvinder puts it: “I always feel refreshed, enthused and ready for work.”
