Science on Stage Portugal: Workshops in Lagoa and Seixal

The Workshop "Teaching STEM with Science on Stage – Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals" took place in Lagoa and Seixal.

On the 7th of July 2023, this training action took place at the Nobel Algarve British International School, with the support of NUCLIO/Science on Stage Portugal and the Lagoa School Grouping Training Centre. Rute Oliveira (Nobel Algarve), Isabel Borges and Ana Costa (NUCLIO/Science on Stage Portugal) presented the workshop, which was attended by 44 teachers from primary to secondary education from schools in the area. Various resources were shared and fruits (oranges, apples) and water were used to address various concepts in Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Here are some photos:

On the 10th of July 2023, another action took place, this time at Escola Básica Pedro Eanes Lobato, in Seixal. Organisers were NUCLIO/Science on Stage Portugal, the Pedro Eanes Lobato School and the Seixal School Training Centre. Sandra Vasconcelos, Isabel Borges and Ana Costa presented this workshop, which was attended by 24 teachers from primary to secondary education from schools in the area. Several resources were once again shared and a “lunar base”, apples and spaghetti were used to address various concepts in Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. In both workshops, teachers were excited about all the practical work and the new teaching ideas shared. A very positive point was the establishment of partnerships with schools and training centers for validation and accreditation of this workshop as a short-term training action, with the allocation of 3 hours of continuous training to participating teachers.
