STEM Jobs for the Future

In this project, teachers from across Europe collaborate to develop innovative teaching materials that integrate career orientation directly into the classroom. Working in international teams, the participants create digital and interactive resources that help students understand how the skills they build in the classroom translate into the competencies they will need for current and future career paths in STEM.

How to bring STEM Jobs into the Classroom?

Many students struggle to see the real-world value of STEM skills and how they connect to future careers in sustainability, AI, big data, and beyond. While career days and company visits provide valuable insights, there is often a gap when it comes to continuous and integrated career orientation within regular STEM education.

This is where our "STEM Jobs for the Future" project, organised by Science on Stage Germany, makes a difference!

Kick-off Meeting

From 7–9 November 2025, 23 teachers from 15 countries met in Berlin for the kick-off meeting of the "STEM Jobs for the Future" project. During this meeting, participants got to know each other better, explored the topic of career orientation in STEM education in greater depth, developed ideas, and formed working groups.

Second Project Meeting

From 26–28 June 2026, 20 teachers from across Europe came together in Berlin for the second meeting of the "STEM Jobs for the Future" project. Since the kick-off meeting in November 2025, participants have been working in small international groups to further develop their teaching materials and test them in their classrooms. During the second meeting, participants presented their progress, further developed their teaching materials, exchanged feedback within and across groups, and planned the next steps towards finalising their resources.

What’s next?

After the two project meetings and in-person group meetings, the participants continue their collaboration in international teams, further refining their ideas, finalising their teaching resources, and testing their materials in the classroom. The four working groups are focusing on the themes of Water, Space, Biology & Robotics, and the perfect T-Shirt. As a result, digital teaching materials on career orientation in STEM will be created – featuring interactive elements such as project-based learning modules, role play scenarios, quizzes, and more.

In 2027, all materials will be published as Open Educational Resources (OER) on the websites of Science on Stage Germany and Science on Stage Europe – available in both English and German.
