Developing and building a robot with our new teaching material

The new teaching resource "Develop your own Robot" provides a step-by-step introduction to CAD, 3D printing and robotics. In this open-source project, students learn to design and build their own robot from scratch. Using YouTube tutorials, students design their own robot casing in CAD, print it using a 3D printer, assemble the hardware and then program the robot using a block-based approach.

This best practice example by Marco Düvelmeyer from Germany was presented at the European Science on Stage festival 2026 in Klaipėda, Lithuania.

The material is aimed at technology and computer science teachers of 14+ year old students. It is divided into six learning scenarios, which are structured as modules. They can also be used individually and independently of one another, allowing lessons to be organised flexibly.
