"Joy for Everyone": Romania celebrates science

In May 2025, Science on Stage Romania organised two major STEM education events in the city of Cluj-Napoca in Northwestern Romania. Both were part of the city's cultural celebration "Zilele Clujului", with the support of local institutions and educational partners.

On May 24th, around 250 primary and secondary STEM teachers came together in Casino – Urban Culture Centre for the Romanian National Science on Stage Festival 2025. They were treated with a showcase of innovative and classroom-ready STEM teaching projects selected via a national call, which had been disseminated through a broad promotional campaign across multiple educational platforms and networks.

The participating projects emphasised investigative learning, sustainability, AI integration, equity, and low-cost experiments, and were developed by teachers from across Romania. The festival also served as the national selection round for Romania’s delegation to the European Science on Stage Festival 2026 in Klaipėda, Lithuania.

On May 25th, the same venue hosted the outreach event "Science for All, Joy for Everyone", organised by Science on Stage Romania in partnership with Cluj County School Inspectorate, Babeș-Bolyai University and the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca. The science festival was open to the general public, with a focus on children and families. Attracting over 600 visitors, it aimed to popularise science through interactive stands, youth science projects, and hands-on experiments, creating a dynamic space for dialogue between educators, students, and researchers. It encouraged multidisciplinary engagement, scientific communication, and STEM career inspiration among young participants.
