Webinar: Quantum Computing in STEM Education - The Supremacy of Quantum Algorithms

Quantum computing is transforming our understanding of what computers can achieve. In this webinar, one of the authors of The Supremacy of Quantum Algorithms will introduce this classroom-ready teaching unit, which helps students explore how quantum algorithms can outperform classical approaches.

project logoThrough activities based on linear search, binary search, and factorisation, students discover key concepts behind quantum computing and learn why quantum algorithms can offer significant speed-ups. Designed for a wide range of STEM classrooms, the unit requires no prior programming experience and includes both unplugged activities and Python-based extensions for computer science students.

The webinar is mainly aimed at mathematics and computer science teachers for upper secondary school but of course open to anyone who wants to get practical insights directly from one of the creators of the unit and discover engaging ways to bring quantum computing into your classroom.

About the Teaching Materials
Developed by Science on Stage Germany in collaboration with teachers from across Europe, Quantum Computing in STEM Education helps bring one of today's most exciting emerging technologies into STEM classrooms. The modular resources cover physics, mathematics, and computer science and can be used as individual lessons, combined into customised learning sequences, or followed through ready-made learning pathways. The materials are freely available and include insights into both the scientific foundations and career opportunities in quantum technologies. Sam Robbins is a computer science teacher at Queen Elizabeth's School, Crediton, and Exeter College, Exeter, United Kingdom. He is one of the authors of the teaching material Quantum Computing in STEM Education, for which he developed learning activities exploring the supremacy of quantum algorithms.
