Course on Smart Cities for STEM teachers

Between the 19th and 24th of February 2024, Science on Stage Italy is offering a six-day course on the topic of Smart Cities and Sustainability for secondary STEM teachers, in collaboration with Torino Politecnico and Torino University, Idis-Città della Scienza (Napoli), Foundation and Edison Energia (Torino) and the Turin Municipality.

The course will allow the participants to deepen their knowledge and reflect on what Smart Cities are and what sustainability has to do with them. 

The main objectives of this course are to:

  • Explore energy use, air pollution, and how to analyse air quality
  • Discover how to construct an extended trees network- IoT (Internet of Trees) to protect our forests
  • Stimulate reflection on more sustainable productions, starting from both raw materials and recycled materials
  • Know approaches to engage students in active learning and stimulate critical thinking
  • Deepen knowledge about smart biomasses approach, energy for smart cities and smart mobility
  • Discover how to map the CO2 captured from a city park and how to plan river ecology lessons
  • Know nature-based solutions set in redeveloped urban spaces and schools with green walls and sustainable projects
  • Know the European networks, tools and resources for STEMs
