From lapbooks to metereological stations: the Kazakhstan national event

The national selection stage of Science on Stage Kazakhstan 2025 took place from August 25 to September 10, receiving 56 applications from teachers across various regions of Kazakhstan. Following expert evaluation, 30 innovative STEM projects were shortlisted for the final round.

The Republican Final was held on 20 September 2025 as part of the PRO.NRG Fest, bringing together the strongest STEM educators and showcasing the most compelling teaching practices in Kazakhstan. The event was organised by COSMOS NPIO and GenomiX BioScience Academy.

The following educators were awarded first place for their outstanding projects, which will be represented by one teacher per team at the European Science on Stage festival in Lithuania:

  • Amina Zhulduzbekovna Khametova – “Career-Guidance Lesson: Cytogenetics Laboratory”, Pythagor Private School, Almaty
  • Malika Baglanovna Duzbaeva & Almira Rysbekkyzy Daniyarova – “Seed Capsule Box: Biodegradable Paper Capsules as a Tool for Environmental Education”, Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Ust-Kamenogorsk
  • Natalia Vladimirovna Kolcheva – “Lapbook: A Space for Independent STEM Learning”, Kausar Children’s Palace, Karaganda
  • Arman Zhumabayevna Imansharipova – “Project-Based Research Activities through STEM Education”, Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Astana
  • Aitkul Zhanatovna Zhandarbekova & Abdulla Qairzhanuly Murzakhmetov – “History Beneath the Semolina Layer: Archaeology for Schoolchildren”, Flagman Online, BTCS, Astana
  • Ainur Nurlanovna Yermagambetova – “Historical Room Box: STEM Through History”, Pythagor Private School, Almaty
  • Bauyrzhan Sailaugaliuly Shokanov & Laura Sagidullayevna Mandibayeva – “MeteoGO: Universal Early-Warning Meteorological Station”, Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Aktobe

In the next months, Science on Stage Kazakhstan will focus on:

  • Preparing national winners for the European Science on Stage Festival
  • Conducting professional development workshops for interested teachers nationwide
  • Involving past laureates and European festival participants as speakers and mentors

Science on Stage Kazakhstan continues to build a dynamic national community of STEM teachers, promote innovative teaching practices, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s representation on the European educational stage.
