Quantum Computing project meeting in Berlin

Quantum computing is rapidly emerging as a key technology of the future, and educators across Europe are working to ensure that students are introduced to its fundamental concepts early on. Since February 2024, 20 teachers from 15 countries have been collaborating on the development of innovative teaching materials as part of the project "Quantum Computing in STEM Education" coordinated by Science on Stage Germany and supported by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.

In May, the second project meeting took place in Berlin, where participants continued to refine the teaching units and outlined the final phase of the development process. The materials are designed for teachers of physics, mathematics, and computer science, and are suitable for use regardless of prior knowledge in quantum computing. They are structured to be easily implemented in the classroom and cover a broad spectrum of topics—from basic principles of quantum computing to practical applications and introductory quantum algorithms. The project will be published as digital teaching material in spring 2026.
