Teachers from Science on Stage Georgia share insights on student motivation at conference

The final conference of the research project “ROSES – Relevance of Science Education”, funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, was held on 31 January 2026 at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. The project was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Marika Kapanadze, member of the Science on Stage Georgia national steering committee.

During the conference, the project team presented key findings on students’ motivation in science education. A panel session brought together teachers, students, and educators to discuss challenges and share insights on engaging learners more effectively in science.

Experiences from Science on Stage were also highlighted during the event. Nino Abesadze, a physics and science teacher in Tbilisi, highlighted her collaborative project with a Swedish teacher and her participation in international Science on Stage festivals, while Tatuli Bliadze and Dea Melikishvili, pre-service teachers from Ilia State University, reflected on the National Science on Stage Festival in Georgia.

Additionally, teachers Eliso Gamtsemlidze and Inga Mosiashvili showcased a range of student projects, one of which has been selected for the European Science on Stage Festival in Klaipėda, Lithuania, in May 2026.

The conference provided a valuable platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and emphasizing the crucial role of motivation in science education.
