Explanatory and experiment videos for primary school: Understanding our nature

Whether for teaching at home or for differentiated instruction in the classroom, explanatory videos offer a helpful supplement for teachers, allowing them to show experiments and scientific phenomena.

Science on Stage Germany invited primary teachers from all over Europe to participate in a project on the development of explanatory and experiment videos. The topic of the videos is "Save our nature by understanding it!"

Together we want to develop new learning videos on environmental topics for primary school that encourage both inquiry-based learning and provide explanations for phenomena. Additional materials and instructions will accompany the videos.

For this project, 20 primary teachers were selected to work in international teams for about 1,5 years.

The first meeting took place in April 2023 in Berlin. The second meeting will be in March 2024 in Berlin. Additional virtual meeting took place in September and November.

Aims of this project

• Create explanatory and experiment videos by teachers for teachers about the topic “save our nature by understanding it”
• Develop accompanying materials for primary school for differentiated teaching approaches
• Promote communication skills, teamwork and creativity of the children

We want to further qualify primary school teachers and show them another approach to STEM subjects so that they can enthuse pupils for these subjects. We also want to provide primary school teachers with knowledge on how to incorporate digital elements into their lessons.

Outlook on the results

The teaching videos and additional materials created in this project will be published as free-of-charge digital materials in both English and German. Here is a little sneak w of what the material will look like on our website:
