Students awarded for devices from SDG-project
The City Hall of Cluj-Napoca is organizing the nice event 'Gala de Excelență 10 pentru Cluj' (The Excellency Gala 10 for Cluj) every year. Most meritorious students are awarded for special results in different domains: science, informatics, environment, arts, sports, etc. The prizes are sponsored by the main companies in our area.
On the 15th of December 2022, in the hall of the Student House in front of a large audience, the prize for the Environment section went to the InfoNature team from Tiberiu Popoviciu Computer Science High School. They were awarded for the projects Forest Reader, a device that records environmental conditions and the viability of trees in forests or parks, and the Caelibox 2, a device that measures the concentration of toxic gases and shows the air quality.
Aurelian B. and Marius T. are the students who made these devices for the Science on Stage project 'Act Now for the UN Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs in STEM Education'. This project reflects the best embodiment of 21st Century Skills: to make students ask critical questions and also to develop ways to find answers to them.
Aurelian and Marius were so proud to be rewarded in Cluj-Napoca for their achievements by the EMERSON company but they were also very lucky to present their work in front of the teachers in Berlin last October.
